I started writing years ago and have many published credits under my belt. I decided to take the course because I want to persue a career in writing children's books. I have a long way to go but one of my main goals at this point is to write a children's book and have it published before or by the end of this course. I am confident that I can write it - just hope that I can find a publisher... I have several stories published in children's publications - this is a start. But I would like to be published in Highlights for Children and Cricket Magazine, to name a few. That is another goal of mine and another reason for this course. Since I am retired now, writing has become my new norm. Several months ago, when the corona virus crisis hit the US, we were overwhelmed and confined to the house except when one of us had to go to the store for essentials. I found myself a major part in virtually homeschooling my three grandsons and had to take a leave of absence from the course for three months. I am back now and ready for the assignments and reading material, and podcasts by Kelly. I have a lot of homework to catch up on. I just finished assignment five. My character, a fourteen year old country boy was forced to live in the city in an apartment with his mother (work related). Every summer he'd visit his aunt and uncle in the country and all his country boy ways came to life. When I observed this boy recently, I could see adventure after adventure waiting to explode on the pages of my stories... Enjoyed the podcast Kelly. Look forward to every one.
